Facilities
The original Grade 1 listed 18th century buildings have recently been tastefully refurbished with modern facilities and upgraded to meet today's educational needs without losing their essential character. Extensive grounds and playing fields surround the school buildings, on the side of a valley in picturesque Yorkshire.
Sports & Arts
Fulneck School promotes a well-rounded education for its pupils, including a range of extra-curricular activities incorporating sports such as cricket, hockey, netball, football, rugby and tennis. Recent overseas activities have included a choir tour to the USA, a business trip to the Czech Republic, a netball team trip to Barbados and a ski holiday to Italy. Music plays a key role in the school community throughout the calendar year, with the jazz band and orchestral group playing at regular events and the whole school choir singing the choral evensong at the famous York Minster every year. Creative students can also join a wide range of interest-driven clubs including the school magazine, dance, debating and drama.
Dormitories and Student Life
Boarding at Fulneck School is homely, supportive, flexible and fun. The school's two boarding houses- one for girls and one for boys- are both located in the main school building, creating a very safe and secure environment. The school aims to provide a 'home from home' experience to ensure that the transition into boarding life is as seamless as possible for both UK and international students. The care and wellbeing of all students is the number one priority of the houseparents, matrons and academic staff, who make sure that a well-balanced and structured routine is in place.The girls' house accommodates 36 boarders and the boys' house accommodates 50. Both houses have single, twin and triple bedrooms as well as well-equipped common room areas and kitchens. Weekends are jam-packed with events and there is always a varied timetable of activities on offer such as trips to shopping centres, parks, museums, outdoor activity centres and much much more. Nestled between glorious Yorkshire countryside and the city of Leeds, boarders have the perfect British balance of enjoying both country and city life.
