Overview
Situated in the historical maritime city of Southampton, on the south coast of England, Itchen College is an excellent sixth form college offering over 50 different subjects. The 110 year old college has over 25 years of experience of support international students achieve and surpass their potential. With an overall A Level pass rate of 100% and with 67% of students achieving grades A*-B, Itchen College is one of the best performing in the area and it’s not surprising that so many of their students are accepted to their first choice of university.
Facilities
Students at Itchen College benefit from a wealth of large green open spaces to play sport, relax or socialise. The college has invested over £6 million in recent years to ensure that their students have access to the highest quality of facilities and resources. The science department is home to industry standard laboratories and all learners are supported by modern learning technology. For arts and drama lovers there are studios, performance spaces, 10 soundproof music rehearsal rooms, photography darkrooms, a radio station, and bespoke art rooms. For those students looking to keep fit or join college sports teams, facilities include full size football pitches and netball courts, a fitness suite, climbing wall and sports hall. Students also benefit from an on-site college shop and canteen where they can buy sandwiches, salads and hot meals.
Sports and Arts
Itchen College run a multitude of Sports Academies including, Football for both Men and Women, Golf, Basketball, Netball, Rugby, Athletics and Volleyball. These academies provide high level coaching for students who are looking to play their chosen sport at a competitive level. The college also offer multiple opportunities for those students looking to play sports recreationally. Students studying on arts courses are able to join the Creative Arts Academy. This provides them with access to additional trips, activities and opportunities to experience arts and drama enrichment.
Student Life
Students at Itchen College are provided with a wealth of support by the Student Support Team. Having worked with international students for over 25 years, the college are well versed in the issues these students face and the best ways to support them in overcoming these challenges. All students will meet with their tutor at least once per week and will have termly academic reviews. Students who are academically strong are able to benefit from the High Performance Academy and receive additional support in challenging themselves to surpass their academic expectations.
