Facilities
The historic school building, which dates back to 1819, has seen extensive renovation and modernisation in recent years. It now boasts a custom science laboratory, state-of-the-art computer and technology rooms as well as fully-equipped music tutorial, home economics and arts and crafts rooms. The building is situated on the school’s 20 acres of land adjacent to Cavan town. The grounds also feature ample outdoor recreational facilities including a full-sized floodlit all-weather hockey pitch, a grass soccer pitch and a hard tennis/basketball court with floodlighting.
Sports & Arts
Royal School Cavan provides its students with a diverse range of extra-curricular options. Sports clubs include soccer, hockey, basketball, rugby, cross-country running, table tennis and badminton. Annual drama and musical productions are a well-loved school tradition and provide a fantastic platform for creative and musically-talented pupils. The school prides itself on its participation and successes in various competitions and has won national awards in Arts and Science and regional awards in Young Enterprise, Cookery and Irish, to name but a few. Students are also active in fundraising for numerous local and national charities, and interaction with the local community is strongly encouraged to foster a Christian ethos and a sense of social justice.
