SCHOOL PROFILE AND ACADEMICS
The Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) is located along the coast of Lake Ontario and is a little more than an hour outside of Toronto. The Durham Catholic District School Board has four different foreign languages to offer in addition to their ESL program. All the schools in this district also have Advanced Placement courses for students to take as well as a couple Dual Credit course opportunities. There are also many electives for students to choose from including Drama, Law, and Marketing. Extracurricular activities are quite popular at the schools, featuring both artistic options such as Art Club and Drama Club and interest-based clubs such as Social Justice and Yearbook.
FACILITIES
The Durham Catholic District School Board has two recently built schools within its district, offering brand new facilities for their students. Schools in the DCDSB have facilities such as athletic fields, music rooms. art studios, and chapels for prayer.
SPORTS AND ARTS
Schools in the Durham Catholic District School Board offer a verity of athletic programs for their students. Varsity sports are offered seasonally and include Basketball, Football, Ice Hockey, Lacrosse, Soccer, Track and Field, and Volleyball.
Each of the DCDSB schools have large arts programs with many courses and extracurricular activities for students to choose from. The Durham Catholic District School Board also has a new Regional Arts & Media Program for students to focus on specific arts programs such as Dance, Performing Arts, or Visual Arts.
COMMUNITY INFORMATION
The Durham Region is located about an hour East of Toronto, in the Golden Horseshoe area of Ontario. There is a mix of rural land in the north, with the South being more urban. Driving is popular to get around here, but there is also a transit system that allows people to travel all over, and popularly into Toronto. Part of the Durham Catholic District School Board is on the coast of Lake Ontario, which offers some beautiful scenery.
